Homeless Building Habitat Houses

Today is World Habitat Day. I was invited to give the invocation at a wonderful Habitat for Humanity event on a property where four LEED certified homes are being built. Most of the workers for the day were homeless people that get services from Loaves and Fishes. Many of them are also involved in the Safe Ground movement.

The day began w/ folks from “Clean and Sober” providing a pancake breakfast.

Tom told me how his life was a miracle and that Jesus was his protector.  He had quite a story.  He showed me his very cool Jesus tattoo.

“Squirrel” talked to me about the power of Psalm 91.  He had received a book about the Psalm at the recent veteran’s standown.

Then they got to work.

  1. Great photos. Rev. Brian!!!!!!

Thnak you for your Invocation and spirit that helped start our day of building!!!

  2. Great start! Good to see that something is being done for the homeless in our community. Thanks for the pictures!

  3. What you are doing is Awesome, and may God Bless every thing that goes on there. I and my wife are Evangelist Ministers here in Tampa Fla. We reach out to the Homeless & Needy people here in Pasco County mostly and some in Tampa. We take Clothes food Tents and every thing under the sun out several times a week. We have a great Vision for this type of program here for All our many Homeless and Needy Friends. We are believing for God to work some Miracles here for land and buildings for shelter, rehab, and all the other programs needed to help these make the transition form Homelessness to self-sufficiency and stable housing. We are seeing more families start to show up in the woods around here. Any tips on how to approach habitat here might be helpful. Thanks, Pastor Robert.
SpiritLifeMinistry.com. ***Keep up the good work*** Anyone coming to Fla, Have them look us up. We can help anyone that needs it. Be Blessed.

  4. I would like to see habitat meeting the needs of single women. Those of us with grown children or working or not, are being left out, with the only options being low income housing for which there are waiting list or closed lists. Some of us< I for one would appreciate the opportunity and dignity of hoe ownership. Homelessness, and poverty are alot more treacherous for us believe me. Standing by the bus stop near Mary house, I get propositioned almost everyday, and often emotionally, once physically for standing up for myself, and asking for respectful treatment from some that are sicker than others that may unfortunately loiter or purposely case the area looking for desperate women.

  5. Why are you releasing these people’s medical record conditions. You classify ANY alcohol use as having the disease of alcoholism. You’re using these people!
